DNN, AI-based Early Bushfire Detection System

   10. Pros and Cons of Detection System – Samsung SDS (Partner)

Land-based

  • Fast and accurate, monitoring anywhere, anytime (24/7)
  • Reliable and provides early detection
  • Relatively easy to control by RFS and/or Government agencies
  • Based on nationwide wireless network using existing Telco’s LTE and extended network in bushland
  • Can be integrated to a centralised nationwide control system
  • Additional benefits listed on previous page

Drone

  • Cheap, fast turn-around time
  • Useful for firefighting after active fire

Satellite

  • Fast and cover large area,
  • Useful in tracing fire propagation  after active fire

Land-based

  • Difficulties erecting poles in national parks due to legislation in place

However the total estimated cost of Black Summer bushfire damages, tangible and intangible is huge. Human lives, animals and bushland are more important

– We have alternative solution to address the above issue

Drone

  • Safety issue with helicopter or plane firefighting when drones are flying around the fire site.
  • Not suitable for early detection anywhere, anytime

Satellite

  • Stationary Orbit:
Expensive and not suitable for early detection
  • Needed fine weather
  • Low orbit:
Not suitable for early detection because the satellite must pass over the fire site timely
  • Low quality resolution makes it hard to pinpoint ignition
  • Useless when cloudy
